fiberglass lower door panels

Almost done with the fiberglass door panels im making for my 86' k10. Theyre going to be the new home for a set of jl 6.5" components. Any advice when it comes time to wrap them on what I should use? I was thinking suede but have never worked with the stuff.

Re: fiberglass lower door panels

The easiest materials are "dual stretch" meaning that they stretch in both an x and y axis. The majority of materials are either one way stretch or just normal fabric that has minimal stretch in any direction. Get with an upholstery vendor and make sure the material has a stretch built into it. The good news is that your panel doesn't really look too tough at all to cover except where the tweeter and mid curve together near the top side. Other than that, it should look great no matter if you go carpet, vinyl, suede, etc.
