Question: Temp Idiot Light Function 65 C10
65 C10, I6. Idiot lamp dash. All bulbs function.
Currently on start up....Green temp light illuminates then goes out when the engine is fully warmed. I know the red light works...I put power to it separatly. Now for the queston, since the red light (overtemp) has never illuminated. On start up, is normal function only to have the green light till the engine is warm? (i.e. I will never see a red light glowing unless the motor is over heated.) |

Re: Question: Temp Idiot Light Function 65 C10
There should be 2 terms. on the sender unit. The green light comes on till the engine starts warming up. If you ground the wire at each the respective light should come on with the key on. If the red light comes on when grounded you know the circuit is good. Its a good idea to replace the sender unit. Then you know it will come on if it overheats. They are not very expensive.

Cool. I'm not near my owners manuals since the truck is in the shop for a re-engining of the fleet. Just wanted to confirm my tenuous memory before application of first fire in the cylinders!

Sender is new. We'll ground both. I'm pretty sure thats what my bourbon clouded memory allows me to recall of the initial test many moons ago when we stuffed in the new sensor.....
