Front Tyres/ Rims combo

Sorting front tyres, the '56 is bagged and Im hopefully running 22" rims on front and back. So Far I have seen:

245/35 ZR20
245/45 ZR18
255/45 R18
255/50 R18
245/35 ZR20

All on 8" rims.

Largest is 28" overall diameter and I'm hoping to get away with a low profile 255 on the 22" rim thats just on 29"

Anyone out there running wider than a 255 tyre? I appreciate the lower the truck sits the more lock you give up.

You didn't say what front end you're using. With a Camaro clip, I mocked up 245x45x17's on 8" rims with 3 1/2" offset and it was almost unworkable but my truck sits low AND I have 1" shorter control arms from Hiedts. I ended up with 215x60x17 on the same wheel and I have 2 turns, one each way, lock to lock. For me, I opted for some dish in the wheel look in exchnage for the fat tire look. Still had to give up some turning radius.

The front end is an australian holden clip similar to a Camaro, I'm assuming. I thought it was limited by either the top of the inner fender or the chassis rail for turns lock to lock

You're correct it's the top of the inner fender that is the problem with 8" wheels and 245 or so series tires. If you want the wider tire you have to go with a rim that has positive offset so it looks flat from the outside. Any negative offset or deep dish to the wheel and the wide tire gets too close to the fender to make a turn.
