for those interested in high to low hump changeover

The High hump was for the 4 speed manual stick shift tranny, it was needed to clear the height of the trans and was able to be unbolted for trans removal.

The low hump was for 3 speed maual and automatic trans, this gave you much more floor space and leg room.

I have found several 1963's that had a bolt in low hump, this makes a great donor for the changeover because even though you still have to change the small piece in front of the hump attached to the firewall, it bolts in where the high hump came out.... a lot less welding

Here is one I did today , simply unbolt the high hump and remove. then drill out all the spot welds on the lower firewall piece and remove.

Then test fit your donor pieces, clean up the spot weld area and spot weld it back in. Bolt in the low hump and your done

1963 is the only year I have found a bolt in low hump, not sure if all 63's had this or not maybe some of the 63 guy's can chime in. 63 is the only year I have seen them in and I have seen a few. I know where 1 more is in a junk yard, they had 2 but crushed 1. the nicest one of course!

I have a 65 cab with a great floor. I don't have a high hump, but I could buy a 63 low hump from a guy in my neighborhood. What advantages would a low hump floor have - other than a little more leg room? I plan to install a T5 floor shift tranny and I think the low hump floor would be the best. Right?

Here's my cab floor. Yeah, it has a hole that needs repair, but otherwise the floor is really solid.

You have the typical low hump , no need to do anything but patch the hole

I am pretty sure that all the 60-63 low humps were bolt in.
in 64 they started welding them in...although there have been a few pics of post 63's with a bolt in low hump...
I pulled a low hump out of a 64 80 series, it was the 409 with the Allison 5 speed, the tunnel was a low hump , but it does have a hole for the shifter, the neat part is the front piece which is usually welded in on the 1/2 tons was bolted in on this truck.
these big trucks usually have a flat panel on the floor.

save , and sell that left over high hump, all the guys converting to a dropmember need a high hump.

I think I have sold about 5 of them out of my junk cabs.

I had to raise up the middle a little to clear the T5. I think it was about 2". I had several guys tell me the small hump was always welded in. So I started bring mine with me. The stock carpet fits.

Yes and no

Front usually is welded in, but I have seen a couple c60 and c80 that bolted in

Rear is usually welded on a low hump, but I have seen some 60-63 with a bolt in low hump

Rear bolts in on a high hump ( 4 speed ) models

I have been trying to find a bolt in low hump for my 63 and I thought all the 60-66 trucks had bolt in panels. I didn't realize later years had weld in panels.
Now I realize why I haven't found one yet.

I pulled a bolt in low hump out of the 61 in my yard. My 63 has a bolt in low hump also. The 61 was a St.Louis truck and my 63 is a Baltimore truck

I've got a high-hump in the Suburban now, and will be converting to low hump... then I'm going to convert the factory high-hump to a center console with cup holders, small storage tray, and a factory cigarette lighter for a power port.
