Center console in a 1981
I'm redoing the interior in my 1981 C10, switching from bench to buckets and a console. This console is listed as fitting 73-80, would it work in my '81? They're all the same cab right?

Re: Center console in a 1981
I put a repop one in my 82. I used a 81-87 console mount and drilled new holes in the bottom of the console for it.

Re: Center console in a 1981
Thanks guys, Malo83 I got all my seats, brackets, belts, and perches out of a totalled 81-82 reg cab with factory buckets. For some reason the search function isnt working for me but the parts thread where I found them was something like....Any demand for hiback bucket seats.....

Re: Center console in a 1981
I would say 8/10 that of factory. They fit good but they are slightly thinner and slightly stiffer than factory. You have to do some trimming if you want the door handle bezel to fit as they are designed to be used without a bezel if thats what you prefer. You have to cut the holes for the window/door lock switches or window crank. You have to drill holes for the upper door trim. There are location lines on the backside of the panels for all the needed trimming so no measurements are needed. The worst things about them is they dont put enough pop rivets to hold the window felt, I would recommend doubling what they come with. The top front and top rear ends are sharp and dig into the door paint during installation, the stiffness adds to that problem. I used mine as a daily for about a year or so after I installed them and have a noticable dull spot where I rested my arm while driving. I do like the new arm rest, its like soft solid rubber instead of foam covered in vinyl. Personally, I find the factory panels to be crappy aswell so the lmc panels were not much of a downgrade.

That console bracket can also be found in all 88-91 Suburbans, too.
