Transmission Filter Gasket Issues

I have a 2008 Sierra with the 4L60e. I went to change the trans fluid and put in a new filter. The gasket for the filter will not come out of the transmission.... All I did was mangle the existing gasket. I'm sure its the original because the filter is date stamped November 2007...

Is there a trick? A special tool? I don't want to destroy the aluminum around the port....

help...

Re: Transmission Filter Gasket Issues

This tool made it very simple for me. Stick the hooked end on the lip of the gasket, hit the tool with a hammer,., it should come right out...

Re: Transmission Filter Gasket Issues

Thanks.. I unded up using a 3/8 carriage bolt and a large flat washer... worked great. Got the idea from You-Tube...
