Cadillac Lights

I went to buy some lower door panels the other day. When I met the guy to buy them he had a set of Cadillac tail lights. I asked about them and he just gave them to me. I wanted to do a Cadillac tail light or just something different than the old trailer lights on the step side. I have been looking through the site and see a bunch of pictures and they look great, but I have not been able to find a write up for them. I am ok with setting them in the fender or right next to the tail gate. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a write up. Maybe I am just not searching right. If there are any other websites even that have it. Thanks for the help. I should mention that the tail lights I have are the 93 - 96 Deville lights.

IMO the Caddy light mod is'nt something "different" and thay have been overdone and it's not a mod pep's are really doin' any more.

But if you really wanna do 'em you need to get a set of weld in inserts.
Inserts are sheetmetal that have the same shape of the light housing slightly bigger and are 2 or 3"s deep so you have something to mount the light assembly into.

Also I would not mount them into the fender's due to the fact to rear tire will allways spray water on the light assy. and there is no way it will ever be a rust free installation.

Good luck.

Re: Cadillac Lights

These were popular long enough ago that it is about time for a comeback. I installed several sets back in the 90's when I worked in a bodyshop. Some in the posts like that pic, some right in the fenders and even one set horizontally in the rollpan of an International pick-up.
Seamsealer and weatherpack connectors can make it survive in the long run.

Do you have a write up for that? I thought about doing it in a roll pan too. I am installing a roll pan in the not to distant future.

Unfortunately I don't. Back then I never thought to take pics of anything that I built/fabricated. It's a shame though, because there was a lot of very cool stuff.
I made the cans by hand, there were no kits that I knew of, but that was back when internet use was not common either...

I am a whole lot better about that now. I take pics of most of the stuff that I build at work, right on my phone and it automatically shows up on my home computer via Dropbox.

Re: Cadillac Lights

Thanks for the input everyone. I will figure something out and post here when all done. I only thought about the caddy lights, because I got the lights for free and wanted something other than the trailer lights. After seeing all of the other ideas I might do something else.
