steering column bearings
i have found the lower bearing in the steering colomn to be well shall we say "gone" all thats left is the races no ball bearings left. can the bearing be replaced? where can i get? doesn't look too hard but i have never done before. hopefully you guys have and can help me out. thanks in advance.

LMC has them , I think I have seen them in the Brothers catalog also.

Yeah, I've replaced that bearing; G.M. was carrying that about 8 or 9 years ago- probably still are, if not I'm sure you can get it aftermarket. You'll notice after you replace that your steering wheel won't have all that movement in it anymore-much better

Yes they are replacable. Not to bad to do. I have them available and in stock if I can help you.

I see you have the steering wheel bearing. Went into mine and it looks nothing like YouTube videos. Lots of grease with a lot of fillings.
Do lyou have a rebuild kit or just the bearing? TKX |

I replaced the bearing in the top of the column and I still have "play". Where are the ones in the lower column located exactly?

Brothers has it for about $15.
Be careful not to break the plastic carrier when removing it. It is real easy to remove the bearing assembly from the column but easier out of the truck. I searched and searched trying to get instruction on how to take a tilt column apart for rebuild but no one seemed to know or would help. It took me a while but I figured it out. If you need any help let me know, I will be glad to share what I learned.

Thank you 70 CST 4X4. I just finished pulling a van tilt apart and your diagram was a great help!!! Got the thing dissassembled and blasted!! Took some pictures for my own reference for when I get around to painting and reassembling. Maybe this wll be of help to someone:
