how to identify a 6 speed transmission

Hello! I am researching 09+ Silverado and Sierra trucks. I am looking for ways to identify a truck equipped with the 6L80 trans. If it has the up and down arrows on the column gearshift does this designate a 6spd? Can I tell from the VIN number?

I might add that I am looking online and not in person as for now.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you for the info. I also found this info which I believe to be true.

The 4 has the standard PRNDL and 6 speed has a manumatic with push button + and - on the column. It will come up PRNDM on the dash.
