Throttle linkage and Kickdown

i just put an Edelbrock Carb and Performer Intake on my '69 C/10 with a 305 V8 and I have a question about the throttle linkage and kickdown for the tranny.
first, the last part of my throttle linkage, where it connects to the carb, doesn't match up with the edelbrock at all. the carb has a huge hole where my old carb had a really tiny one. can I buy a new arm at the parts store, or do I have to rig it up or fabricate one?
how do yours connect? a clear pic would help also.

second, the kickdown for the tranny is hooked up, but the place where it connects on the carb is a lot further away so there is too much tension on the cable... the truck doesn't want to shift into 3rd on the freeway. if i ease into 3rd on surface streets it will go eventually.. but no luck on the freeway.
how much slack should there be on the cable? is there any way to guage it, or do i just have to fiddle with it?
i had it unhooked but the truck had no bottom end at all.
now it lays tracks in first and second.. but that's all I have.
the tranny is a turbo 350.
thanks for any suggestions guys.

...

the only problem, is that i think my throttle linkage is specific to the old 2 bbl carb that was on my truck, not stock.
anybody have a picture of a stock throttle linkage?
are those easy to come by as well?

also, will that kit help with adjusting the kickdown?
i'm hoping that is stock, but i'm not sure.

Im not sure. Your best bet would be to contact edelbrock and see what they suggest.

Your kickdown cable is adjustable. Pull the lock clip up so it releases. move the throttle to wide open, the inner part of the kickdown cable will pull out to extend it. With the throttle wide open push the lock back in on the kickdown cable. You should be good to go.

I converted from 2bbl a couple of months ago, and the only probem I had with the accel. linkage was I needed to get a spacer that went over the end of the accelerator rod that went into the throttle linkage on the carb (1406).

I believe I used the one made by Mr. Gasket. I don't have the part number, but it's basically an aluminum doughnut with the hole in the middle, and it comes with a couple of washers, and one of those funky set screw things you can put on a blank rod. I threw everything in the parts bucket but the little doughnut. I had to open the hole in the doughnut wiht a 1/4" drill bit for the accel. rod to slip through.
