Help with steering column at firewall
Help is appreciated. I kinda bought my project in boxes and I know there were at least two donor trucks upstream. I am trying to figure out how to handle the intersection of the steering column and firewall.
This has a later tilt column and it looks like the plate at the firewall was split to fit. But it does not seem like it was ever attached to this firewall, in fact the whole bolt pattern is different. Seems like I would be best off to find a plate that fits - can someone verify that this is a matter of two different years? Also looks like I will need to increase the diameter of the hole in the plate to fit. I just can't find a plate online. Gaskets are available. Any comments or experience here is appreciated. Sorry looks like my photos went sideways! Scottie |

Re: Help with steering column at firewall
What year is your truck? The plate you show screws in from the inside of your cab. There is foam seal that can be purchase on the catalogs that goes in between cab and plate. Steering column goes through (plate - somebody cut) from inside and mounts on the outside of cab with the following brackets...here are sum pics..

Re: Help with steering column at firewall
ohh yeah! Well that is way different than I pictured it. Indeed the part I have goes on the inside, and I seem to be missing the part on the engine side of the firewall. Pls tell me about the silver bracket you have under the column in the cab shot? Is that a stock part? Seems I don't have that either. Thanks so much for this help!
