whats it worth at a quick glance?
So the story is that the transmission went out six or so years ago and it was parked under the pine trees. I think the guy said it was a 65. I dont know much about these trucks, but sure would like to save it. The owner said the engine would run and was asking a staggering price of 1500.
I didnt get a chance to really give it a going over, but managed to get a few quick pics. The upside is big window, maybe a custom judging by the holes on the cab? possible running V8, dual exhaust, short bed. Not alot of info, but thought you guys might like to see it and offer me some advise on what to look for in the event that I can find a way to drag it home without ending up divorced. I will post Moore pics based on member participation.

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
Doesn't look like a custom cab to me. left side front bed needs attention and also has normal patch panel rust issues. If it runs $800-$1500 max. I am sure the wood is gone, needs brakes etc for one that has been sitting, but a TH350 is a day of you time and they are $200 used out here. Looks like a good flip or a good project for a driver to me.

Nothing like good old pine needles to get in every crack and crevice. I bet that cowl vent is full of em. she's definitely a keeper..

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
Funny I actually live in Arlington after being evacuated from Memphis a few years back.....lol
And yes that is rusted over chrome your looking @. Here are some more pictures I was able to get, 1500 in this area seems a bit high considering the engine condition is really unknown, but I bet I can get the price down some. Do these trucks have coil spring suspension like the 67-72's?

Think a little high, but see why he'll do.
It's a short bed so that makes it more desirable. I paid $1,300 for this truck in Colorado.

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
I hope it is a 66, that's my birth year it would be kinda cool.
I am pretty much sold on it, just have to figure out my plan to get away with it. The wife isn't gonna be happy, I have been married to her for 5 years and have had about 10 trucks during that time.

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
As hard as decent big window trucks are getting to come by, that appear mostly complete, aside from the radio hole done with a hatchet. Apparently it has power steering, since the engine has a pump on it with a belt. Also, if they are correct and original, I believe '66 was first year for the backup lights.
I'd say it's a strong $750 bottom to $1000 truck. The overall body seems to photograph well and not look that bad. I'd bet that an hour at a pressure car wash and some scrubbing and it would be a whole different truck. |

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
Yes, coil spring like the later trucks. The 60-62 had torsion bar.

It may have had west coast style mirrors on it also. It has the tell tale sign of the 2 holes at the top of the doors.

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
In California, a complete bbw, sb, fleet side with a motor & trans is a steal at 1500! If you pay less consider it a gift!

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
Price is relative to your given area, as Raider said here in Cali that truck would have got about 2500...the real big issue is the rust, rocker panel, doors and fenders are covered with patch panels at a price, windshield valance ( just above windshield ) is not, if that is rusted out I would think twice...it gets to be a real pain in the rear then.

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
Money talks, show up with cash and a trailer and you could get it for less. If you need any help, I will be in the area.

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
Looks like a V8 with power steering. I have been buying these trucks since 1988 & they are getting harder to find. This could be your last opportunity for a steal like this.

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
$1500 is no steal. But its not a bad deal.
+1 on the California pricing... around here if someone rattle canned it primer the way that one sits.. they would ask 3500-5000

Re: whats it worth at a quick glance?
Id grab it, try to offer less. Around Dfw, some dude would want $3500 for that truck.
