building control arms need some info.
Hey all brought my truck in and tore it apart for a rebuild. I wanna build new control arms as mine have been modified and don't look to good anymore. I've been trying to locate the billet cross shafts like the ones CPP uses so I can run poly style bushings. I'd much rather build my own than buy bolt ons

Hi bodydrop72. Welcome to the forum! I'm moving this to the Suspension area for you so you can get some help with this.

You may find Delrin or UHMW is a lot more durable, rigid and quiet than poly for your bushings. You can get billet cross shafts from all kinds of roundyround supply places.

Re: building control arms need some info.
Been looking for .5" dropped cross arms myself for the upper A-arms with no luck. Can't find them with or without the drop that fits the original mounting points. Hotchkis has them but won't sell them separately. I'm using standard 73-87 lower shafts and having a machine shop make delrin bushing. I'd definitely look into delrin or UHMW as posted above instead of urethane.

Re: building control arms need some info.
Maybe fabricating a cross shaft out of steel would work for you? A heavy wall DOM or chromolly tube with sleeved mounting holes could be made with a minimal amount of work and the bushings could be sized to ride on it's OD. The sleeved mounts could be offset to change height and/or anti.
Seems like welding new mounts on the frame to use a ready made shaft might be easier and allow the same geometry changes.
