What years for light gray interior?

What years did the burbs and blazers start with the light gray interior. I am talking about mid to late 80's early 90's. Going to be searching for buckets, console, dash pad and door panels and need to know what years to search for. Thanks.

I'd be guessing, I don't know. Keith Seymore would probably remember.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

When I was looking for interior parts I found light grey on 90-91 only.

Think you totally got me there.
Never really thought about it too much. Gray, blue etc in 87-91 always seemed the same. Saddle and cognac only seemed like the biggest color difference.
I put some gray stuff side by side last night and there is a difference.
Dash pads & consoles didn't seem to change color though.

This part confuses me though.
If picture #2 is an original truck, must be a '90-'91 with dark gray. Power mirrors give it away. #4 looks to be restored so not sure on that one but it has power mirror switch with stainless mirrors. Maybe power van mirrors or swapped in dyed 90-91 door panel?
Either way, I stand corrected. Thanks for pointing it out. Learn new thing everyday.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

I have seen some '78 and '79's with light grey, so I think it was an option back that far at least. I have personally owned a couple of '81 Blazers with light grey as well. One even had the sweet plaid interior.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

Depends…
Mid to late production in '86, GM changed the interior on the Blazers and there was a color called medium gray which looked light gray to me.
The seats in my '89:

Prior to that they looked like this all the way back to '81. Suburban had pretty much same interior as Blazer from '81 to '88. They had a light gray interior as well in '81-'88 yrs.

Then in '89 GM updated the interior designs to match the new '88 GMT400 trucks.

Hope this helps you out somewhat.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

I am just trying to stay away from the darker charcoal gray/black interior that my 85 has. Door panels are my biggest concern. Trying to find a set of factory light gray. Just wasn't sure on all what years I should focus on. Thanks.

Are you opposed to the SEM dye?

Nope. That is what I will go to but would like to find some factory pieces if possible. I think I am going to have to use the SEM on some trim over the doors and back trim pieces anyway.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

DOH!...my mistake.
I thought you were looking for color and designs changes.
That last pic is the shade that '87-91 Blazer and '89-91 Subs will be.
Neither Sub or Blazer ever got charcoal interiors in those yrs so you'll only find one shade of gray.

There are two different shades. Check out my 2nd (med grey) and 4th (light grey) picture.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

I have a set of gray buckets and just a few gray interior pieces (no door panels - already sold) I'd make you a good deal on and I'm in Peoria, IL.

Once it warms up a little I can get some pics of the buckets if interested - there's nearly a foot of snow in front of the garage.

Man I really appreciate the offer but I have already bought a set of buckets, console, overhead console, dash pad, seat belts and a few trims pieces from another member. Just waiting on the shipper to pick them up and send to me. Just need some door panels now. This is a pic of what I want my truck to look like. The seats I bought are the same style and color.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

Does anyone know if you can put 89-91 suburban interior panels and parts into a 1980 crew cab? I just bought a 1980 crew cab converted to a short bed, and I would like to put the newer interior parts in it, but not sure if the newer panels would bolt in.

90-91 dark gray. It's not really dark but that is what they called it. The light gray is really light almost a light tan by my eye. Only 2 years for the half trim bit and purse pockets.

Why didn't you get the skins from the same truck, they looked in great shape.

Re: What years for light gray interior?

Most of them will. You will need to use pickup rear cab pieces, and there is a filler that connects that part to the part that goes above the doors. It is peculiar to the crew cabs.

The second row seat will not work in the crew cab.
