what should i do with this GMC grille

I have multiple questions. I picked up this grille a week ago and i figured to put it as a wall hanger or put it on cl even though i have three this is the first one i found that is chrome but what I'm wondering is when i was cleaning it up I noticed that the two pieces i always see that are chrome appear to be blue I don't know if all the chrome peeled off and it just has a blue primer or if it could be factory. The grille cleaned up really well especially behind those trim pieces but those two chrome pieces look like ass and i can't get it to look good (yet) so i don't know if anyone has ever removed the trim and plugged all the holes because i would like to see how that would look and what to plug the holes with. It also has a broken mounting tab its the bottom middle in my opinion its not that big of a deal. The C doesn't sit flush at the top and the chrome around the GMC badge is flaking but I'm still working on fixing that. I'm not trying to sell this through this post i would just like to know if its worth fixing, sell it as is,or should i remove the trim and plug the holes. I'm at a crossroad and not sure which way to go.

It's not worth the effort in my opinion.

A) old plastic is brittle
B) nice ones aren't all that hard to find
C) repros aren't that expensive

The problem is they don't make reproduction GMC grilles and nice ones ARE hard to find! I looked for a long time before I found a nice GMC grill this year.

you state youre not selling this grille yet its mentioned about selling it at least twice in your thread... this is teetering on a for sale post. The part that is rusted is sometimes painted body color and not chrome but you can find better used one out there if you look the wall hanging idea sounds about best unless you desperately need something to hang on your truck

Thanks for the info on the rusted pieces I was never aware that they were painted body color before that will make this so much easier than trying to re-chrome it. What I meant by the sale thing is I'm not posting it on here to try and sell it to other board members I was considering selling it on craigslist as one of my options thinking it wouldn't be worth my time to re-chrome. I'm not trying to break any rules I'm just trying to figure out what to do with it. So I apologize if It came across as me trying to sell it through here i was just wondering what I should do with it, but I really appreciate the feedback and I will watch my future wording of my posts.

Re: what should i do with this GMC grille

Owning a GMC and knowing how hard good grilles are to find I would keep it and restore it the best I could. I have like 3 parts grilles, I have used 2 part epoxy to glue missing parts back and sand down and paint. The emblem in the center can be cleaned and painted to bring it back. Those center pieces are suppose to be stainless steel, looks like the by what I can see in the picture, those are the base plates and the stainless steel parts that slide over those base pieces are missing. The stainless part slides over that portion of the center GMC emblem that is sticking out. I believe that grille fits 79 and 80.
