Anyone recommend a radiator?

Going in a '53, first time with a LS motor. Curious if anyone makes a good Rad that will cool and easy to install with in and out in a easy way to route the hoses.
Also I hear some people talk about the LS motor needing a steam port other say no...

im going with this in my '66 (gotta take the radiator shroud off the core support)
Griffin Radiator 8-70009-LS Dominator Series...
easier to run the hoses both on the passenger side and gets you a double pass.
tranny cooler on the driver side though, which is kindof a bummer.
also the mounting flanges will make my fit a lot easier.

The stock radiator will keep it cool just fine.
I don't have a steam port on mine, I just tapped the top of the water pump and connected a 1/4" hose to it and the crossover tube between the front of the heads.
Never had a heating issue last summer driving it in 100+* temps.

I would use the factory one that you have. Take it have it cleaned and roded out good and go with it. Drill and tap the water pump and tie it into the cross over lines as most do. You can see mine in the picture.

Since its going in a 1953 I would not reuse the stock radiator. I'm doing the same swap. A lot of the guys over in the 47-59 section are going with Champion radiators. They can be had for around $200 for it and its made from aluminum. Your old radiator kept the 216 cool but its probably in rough shape. By the time you pay to have it rebuilt you could just buy the Champion one.

As for the steam port, you can tap the top of the radiator (by upper hose connection and zip tie your steam tube to the upper hose) or just tap the top on the water pump and hook it up. Its not a big deal and you should not sweat about it.

we don't have a pattern yet for the 47-59 models, but if we can get an original, we can build one easily (and would include a discount for the person test fitting). For the steam port, I would recommend running it to the radiator. That way if your water pump fails while on a trip, you can easily swap it in the parking lot without having to also drill and tap the waterpump.

For the LS radiators, we put the correct size inlet and outlet on the passenger side, and include a steam port and trans cooler at no additional charge on all of our radiators (we are a supporting vendor here), and all of our radiators are made here in the USA
