Outer door handles
Well... It's been almost 2 years since I took my truck apart and I didn't remember my outer door handles being so bad. I've had such bad luck with the repop parts I'm very Leary of buying some.
Anyone have any experience buying after market outside door handles? If so can I use my original door locks? Or has anyone had their handles rechromed? How much was it? Thanks all! |

Re: Outer door handles
But look at Classic Parts of America rather than LMC.

Re: Outer door handles
I have aftermarket handles and oe locks in both. Even used the rubber oring ,washer, spring and oe clip to hold them all together. Works great ,looks great. Came from Classic parts. Oe drivers lock used in passenger handle.

Re: Outer door handles
Good to know about a supplier whose parts--handles/locks, at least--fit. Thx to both for the info.

Re: Outer door handles
The handles were all made of pot metal, basically they throw a bunch of scap metal together to make something. very brittle and isnt easy to keep from rusting.
If you have original handles, I would re-chrome as long as they are cosmetically good. I bough some repop handles about 20 years ago and a few years ago they started to have pocks of rust in them. I also got these from Classic Parts. I believe they have the better parts anyway.. Good luck!
