69' blazer side view mirrors question

Can anyone tell me why this 69 blazer has these old metal side view mirrors and others I see on here have cool looking chrome ones.

Those were stock for 69-70. 71-72 had the sport mirrors

Thumbs up Re: 69' blazer side view mirrors question

Thanks BrianK. My Dad Bought this Blazer brand new in 1969 and I believe
those mirrors came on it. He always said something about the sideview mirrors. That is why I was curious if that model was different from all others.
Thanks again!

Yeah but, how do they work? I wanted to use those but read that they vibrate and are unuseable

I have those on my truck, and they do vibrate . My fix was to ram a 1/4" diameter aluminum rod the full length of the mounting arm, then poured epoxy into it. It still shakes a bit, but it got rid of 75% of the vibration.

Re: 69' blazer side view mirrors question

Thanks Hemi, so its the mounting arm and not the mirror union to the arm?

Re: 69' blazer side view mirrors question

The mirror pictured is what is on my '70 Blazer, which I bought with about 3000 miles on it in 1970. The only difference is that mine weren't chromed, but are painted white. They do vibrate some, but not much. I put a bull's eye on the passenger side which reduces the distortion. Big problem was water getting in around the ball attach point. There was no way for water to drain out the bottom, so the ball and the bottom edge began to rust out. Not a problem now in AZ, but it was when I lived with it in Oregon.

West Coast Jrs won't fit the K/5 upper door frame [which ain't there].
Next best thing is the Below-the-Eyeline type, that was optional '69 MY and later.

Re: 69' blazer side view mirrors question

The last time I mocked mine up, there was just enough of metal to make it work, but I will recheck it

thanks for your thoughts Hemi

Just looked at my '71 Jimmy and '68 C/10 Stepside.
The K/5 upper window ''frame'' is under 1-1/2'' long.
The WC Jr on the pickup has the forward mirror-mounting bolt hole right in the angle above the wind vane, second hole ~2'' aft of that.
Not enough meat.
Unless you added on an upper window frame extension, it won't fly.
Even if you did, the whole assembly would vibrate in the wind something fierce.

Re: 69' blazer side view mirrors question

Here are 3 photos of 69/70 blazers with the factory rectangular mirror heads.

The arm was always painted body colour. From what I could find, the heads were available in either white or silver/raw metal colour. I believe that makes all the chrome/stainless heads aftermarket. Can someone who knows more about this than I do confirm this?
