help broke down
So I have been puttering around in the truck no big issues decided to drive her a little further today. She died though at a place I've already made it to. Seemed like she was running out of gas going down the road then finally died. The oil pressure light came on and stayed on at the end right before she died, it had been flickering bit right before she died and flickeringa lot yesterday changed the oil pressure switch today was taking her out see if she still flickered which she didn't. I put gas in her still won't start. It's a 63 Chevy c 10 and I don't have a clue what's wrong with her right now. Also when pushing her I could heara clicking sound

Re: help broke down
In addition to fuel filter, see if the fuel pump is weeping, it could be going bad. If you did run out of gas and have a mechanical fuel pump, it can be a PITA getting her to start. Try drizzling a very small amount of gas into the carb and seeing if you can get her to turn over and get the gas flowing up to the carb again. Good luck.

Re: help broke down
I'm pretty sure the fuel system in this thing is rigged it looks like the fuel filter is connected to the line from the tank then an online filter with another hose running across the engine top to the carb

Re: help broke down
I had a 65 that would do about the same thing. The fuel pump was weak and when the fuel got to low in the tank it would not pull fuel. Put a new fuel pump on it and it was good. Also a filter before the pump will ad to the strain and if it is weak will show up fast.

Re: help broke down
If your truck has sat around much, and considering it's 50 years old, it's pretty common for rust, sludge, etc to inhabit the fuel tank. If so, this will be an ongoing problem, best fixed with a new tank, or some kind of boil out and seal, etc. Try to look in the tank with a flashlight to see if you can see rust & debris. If so, and you can't address the fuel tank, you will need to be diligent about regularly changing the filter, or run the risk of breakdown on the road. The filter can clog up fast with that stuff stirred up.

Re: help broke down
Agree, about fuel filter. Cheap fix to. Just know that you could still have a weak fuel pump.
