staying with 6 lug for now

1969 w/ 4 drums. I need to swap from drums to disc. I know there are a LOT of threads on this but just to clarify and make sure I've got it say I want to source a complete brake setup from a 73-87.

I'll need rotors from an 88-98 2500?

Do I need different ball joints? what else?

Re: staying with 6 lug for now

The most simple swap would be:
1) 63-70 conversion spindles ($229 EVERYWHERE)
2) 6-lug aftermarket rotors
3) 71-80 HD calipers and bearings
4) 71-72 M/C
5) 71-72 or aftermarket prop valve

This isn't a kit.
It's spindles and rotors.
They rest can be sourced locally at your parts store.

IF you want to use a donor.
Use 71-72 truck parts or 73-87 truck parts.
Swap the entire crossmember assembly and then add these rotors.

MY OPINION,... all donor parts are wore out junk.
All tie rods, ball joints and bearings need to be replaced.

I was trying to help you by NOT mixing and matching parts.
Conversion spindles are the best answer for 60-70 drum brake truck owners wanting disc brakes.
No ball joints to change.
No tie rods to change.

Sorry I wasn't helpful enough.
Can someone else help?

No, no, You were very helpful. Now I know I need to spend less time on this forum if any at all. I know now that any question I ask is just wrong. I already knew that. I'm married.

Re: staying with 6 lug for now

Its all good on here these guys know their stuff.
now looking at your title I don't think you can do a swap with donor truck stuff and keep your 6 lug. I think all these common "salvage yard swaps" are gonna get you 5 lug.
Now a kit from a vendor will keep you 6 lug but at a price.
Good luck
Dave
