Heater/Cooling Hose Hockup Question.

When I bought this truck (1976 Stepside Chevy C10), the heater core was disconnected. probably because it leaked. So I have bought a replacement core and:
Thermostat housing (with extra hole for a hose connector)
Heater supply hose
Heater return hose.

The way the truck is hooked up at the moment is (shown in yellow) thermostat housing to top of radiator (right side in the photo)
Lower left not seen in the photo from the bottom of the radiator to the water pump.
Lastly also shown in yellow, top left of the radiator to the top of the block.
Shown in blue is the disconnected heater hose to the top of the heater core. Bottom of the heater core has nothing attached.

Additional info, the water pump has a blanked off port shown in the second photo.
Also no AC.
Haynes manual I bought is as useless as I remember them.

Anyone have the normal hookup for this non AC truck?

Intake manifold port (under your alt bracket near the front) to bottom on the heat core.
Top heat core to water pump plug.

So where does the hose (now connected to the radiator to the Intake manifold) from the top left radiator go?

Sorry missed that!
Instead of top of core to h20 pump, go top of core to rad.
That yellow lined one was their idea of a bypass.

OK that's simple enough and makes sense. The PO bypassed the heater core simply by taking off the lower heater hose and connecting it directly to the radiator. That's an easy fix Thanks.

Installed a new heater core, you should have seen what had dropped into the heater box, bunch of pens, old lighter, coins, spent 9mm casing (interesting). Gave that box a good clean out. Thanks to youtube for a good video how to. Hoses hooked up as noted, that works good. Took the heater motor off and tried it, also works, so wiring or the heater switch needs fixing.

OK so I installed the new heater core and hooked up the hoses. When it runs you can hear the water surging through the heater core, way loader than I would have thought, so now I'm concerned if it's right.

It's air.
Did you burp the system?
Do you have a working return bottle on your rad?

Yep burped the system, working return bottle. Had too replace the intake manifold so I'll try another fill/burp etc this weekend. Air would definitely account for the sound. I'll let you know what I find.
