CPP Grand Slam kit

Hey guys how we doin? first actual post here but ive been watching the threads for a bit, I'm elbows deep into a 68 stepside build with 6 lug drums front and back, originally I planned on doing a cheaper spring drop and do a disk conversion with drop spindles down the road, but now I feel as though I should just do it right the first time. Ive looked into the cpp grand slam kit since I need it all, not just spindles..but obviously Ive read many cpp rants on here, but ofcourse some people have had good luck and some have had bad luck, always goes that way. Anywho, what do you guys suggest? anyone else have a complete kit? Im in no rush to get the parts, should I just go through cpp and cross my fingers since the kit is everything I need?

How would the two compare price wise? Ive read many times that ece is the way to go, i just havent got the the point of ordering parts so I havent called any companies yet

I never really compared prices. It's not apples to apples.

For instance, ECE front end kits require a jug of brake fluid and a tub of wheel bearing grease. That's all you need to supply otherwise. CPP plays games like selling 73-87 spindles and then requiring you to use 73-87 specific parts to install them on your truck rather than just selling you the proper parts. They often send orders out missing hardware, etc. Read the review board. There's countless tales of woe on there about CPP.

Life is too short to deal with bozos. I was ordering from ECE way back in the 90s before there was an Internet and have built a lot of trucks with their parts. Perfection, every time. Absolute perfection.

Listen to this man! I am a victim of this EXACT story which is recent. CPP sent me wrong parts their fault had truck on friends lift and they sent wrong spindles, tie rods, and springs!!! They made me pay for new parts because they wanted me to wait for the return THEN send me the new parts when it was their mistake.!!!! I am in Florida they are in California 5 DAYS each way!!!! This is after speaking and listening to their tech expert! This is my first C10 so trusted them! Big mistake! I said your mistake overnight the parts I have truck in a shop on a lift apart??? We don't do that???!!! They say! Missing bolts, nuts, ect also. Stuff didn't go out for two days, 5 days ground, 7 days!!!! I hate them, terrible service, and attitude! Never again!

Similar experience with CPP. Purchased a brake booster and master cylinder set up. First they shipped with the wrong firewall bracket, the I installed it and the master cylinder leaked when bench bleeding. Purchase a new master from another supplier and installed it with the CPP booster, then the booster leaked. Wouldn't let me purchase new items and return the old for credit. Required me to send it all back for rebuild. Almost 3 weeks later I get the repaired parts. Booster worked but I'm not even going to try using the master.

Purchased a tilt column. Ok, quality, but the park neutral switch has a faulty back up light circuit. Not even going to bother with getting it replace. I bought one locally.

Purchased a new rag joint.........It works! Hard to screw up a rag joint.

From my experience, there is no way, I would put their brakes or suspension parts on my truck.

ECE hands down! Top notch parts and service, good people to deal with and all they do is 67-72 parts.

I just finished the install of ECE's 4/6 kit. Here's some feedback:
- The parts seem good quality.
- The instructions for the rear are not detailed so you'll do some head scratching, including missing torque specs on a few nuts. ECE was responsive to my questions. The front instructions are great except for missing details about how to get the brakes back on or remove the bearings.
- There are lower front coils available by ECE then come in their standard 4/6 kit. The kit's front coils are 1.5" drop, but ECE has a 2" drop coil. After I learned this, I paid for the shipping to exchange them for the lower ones. I suggest contacting ECE off the bat and getting the 2" coils right away.
- I didn't need any extra parts except for some extra grease for the existing bearings. I didn't need break fluid. You may already have all the tools but I didn't. Bought 2 torque wrenches. You need to torque some of the nuts to 215ft-lbs. Also needed a bunch of little tools here and there like some large sockets, a grinder, larger wrenches, and probably another $75 in misc tools. I suspect both kits need this stuff.

Overall, I'm very happy and recommend ECE. I could do it again in 1/3rd the time, now that I'm familiar with the process and have the tools. I've not driven the truck since the install (just finished tonight), so no comments on the ride.

I have done two trucks with the Grand Slam kit from CPP. No problems. On my Jimmy I put on a 3/5 drop kit from CPP with no problems either. I have recently bought new springs from GMC Paul's for the Jimmy, 6" for the rear and 1" drop for the front to see how the ride height / quality compares.

Isn't this board great? I was just pondering about what to do about my brakes and suspension and wah lah there it is. I was also considering CPP but now have reservations and want to check out ECE. Thanks all.

I used a CPP 2.5 drop spindles on my truck and I had no problems. I also went through Summit so the little bit of customer support I need was quick and helpful.

Here where I live I cant have a truck as low as you are talking about for a couple of reasons #1 our roads here are horrible in the town here where I live they started building a 4 lane highway thru here when I was 5 years old and they are still working on it rough road orange friggin barrels mud rocks its a mess , but anyway I wanted to lower my 67 and I sat and ordered all the parts from cpp but I ordered them thru ebay so if they were not right I could have returned them , I got the 3" front springs and if you are wondering the front of these trucks is WAY adjustable so NO ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS I DONT CARE WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO HAVE SPINDLES YOU DO NOT ! so I got 3" fr springs 5" rears springs all 4 shocks , front and rear sway bars , rear adjustable panhard bar (DANG NICE PIECE) and then to top it off I got the rear shock relocators all from cpp , it all had every nut bolt and washer needed it is nice quality stuff , I have no complaints with cpp right now , I will order from them again if I need something ,,,,
