Want to add keyless entry. Currently have manual locks
I want to add keyless entry and remote start to my 91k5. I currently have manual locks. I don't want to add unlock buttons to the door panels but I do want to be about to unlock with a remote. I really don't care about it having an alarm. What do I need to do?

just add a solenoid in the door(s) and use it to move the lock/unlock rod. Control it with a keyless entry system, easy enough

Re: Want to add keyless entry. Currently have manual locks
I installed the lock popper from another car door, ran wires into dash area, local autostart company wired it to the remote when the Viper alarm was installed.
Even stock it all hides under the panel.....cept the switch I'd go out pop the lock, pump the gas and start with key, once running, hit the start button, remove key,go back in and wait till warm, pop lock to get back in,or car turned off using built in timer. but 91 shouldn't be a carb.......so much easier! I think here we (still do) need to be liceneced to install an auto start here

Any kit will work, id recommend something by DEI. See the little square metal piece in this kit, it mounts to the rod in the truck and the new actuator rod, mount actuator to metal strap on door, run wires to relays, wire brain of keyless and done. You'll be done in 2 hrs

Re: Want to add keyless entry. Currently have manual locks
just get the factory(esq) door lock solinoids from a truck/burb/blazer with electric doors, the hardware for mounting is all straight forward, use the factory door lock wire clips and connectors and run it thru the door jam at the factory location using factory door boots to keep it clean and hook it to an el-cheapo wireless alarm or wireless starter brain box. cheap, easy, uses factory hardware, from pick and pull and local radio install shop or big box shop like best buy you would be in it less than 250 clams and the loss of an afternoon during march madness.
dont read too deep into what is 'available' just look at what gm already did and add the wireless brain box in the mix. my truck is an 86, but it already had all the factory electric parts in the dash and fuse panel for electric doors, just need to add the hardware and wires to the doors themselves. CAKE.
