No more pawpaw truck
Been thinking of jacking up front end of my 3/4 ton. There wasn't much info on doing this so I decided not to.
Then last week a friend said "Man when you passed me on the highway at 85 your truck sounded awesome! You gonna level it out?" So I was like dang now I'm thinking about it again. More research showed me the moog 6454 coil. Its the 3/4 ton HD spring and 1 ton LD spring. I ordered them from oriellys for $114 and installed them today. I gained 2 solid inches up front. I can't see any difference in the angle of the tires, I may have it aligned after I do some balljoint work. The ride is nice, not stiff like people warned me it would be. I'm enjoying it. I also had both front rotors turned and also rear drums. Found out one drum was severely warped which wss what was causing my hopping and vibrating at braking. Swapped it out for a new one and smooth as silk. What do yall think? |

Looks like it is going uphill now. Can't really level these trucks and have them look right. The distance between the tire and wheelwell gets out of order.

I might be crazy but if I'm correct, the front fender wheel opening is cut a little higher than the rear. That is the reason why his truck is dead level if you look at the bedrail vs. the ground, but it still looks like the front end sits higher now. I feel these trucks look a little better with a slight rake because of this. I know this isn't a great picture but its the only one I have from when my truck was still together, its from a couple years ago. Its dropped with a flip kit in the rear w/ 2.5'' spindles and we cut one coil out of the stock spring. we put it all back together to see how it would sit w/out cuttin the spring and it was way too high in the front. Its hard to tell but it has a slight rake to it but the fender gaps looks pretty equal, which is proof that the fender openings are cut a little higher on the front fenders. |

HEY!!! IM NOT CRAZY!!!
First two pics are the rear. Second two are the front fender. Measured from the center of the opening to the body line. ALOT bigger difference than I expected... almost 2'' !! |

Re: No more pawpaw truck
It does look a little nose high now. Is the rear leaf or coil?

Re: No more pawpaw truck
The rear is leafs. Camper special. I have a 1" block kot but that would give me rake again. I think it looks great. Look at the bed and cab, its level. The wheelwells look good to me too

Re: No more pawpaw truck
You could do a ORD zero rate in the rear if you feel it is riding too high in the front. I think it looks perfect.

Re: No more pawpaw truck
The rear is higher because it is empty. Every truck looks like that when empty. When it is loaded then it will be too low. It will really be nose high if you have to haul something. Good looking truck though.

Re: No more pawpaw truck
I'm not a fan of lifting or lowering trucks, but...
I think it turned out great! The stance looks great! You may have to add air bags to the back to keep it from squatting too much if you haul heavy loads or tow with it, though. Looks great! |

Re: No more pawpaw truck
Looks healthy! Any concern with rear end droop when loaded/towing can be remedied with Air Lift auxiliary bags. Solves cosmetic concerns while "adding" to the virtues of the truck as a real truck. Adjust air accordingly while adding true extra load capacity. Wheel openings am most anything are obviously taller to allow for suspension cycling while steering.

Re: No more pawpaw truck
Yes guy's, the front wheel opening are taller. Yes the truck is designed to have a rake when empty. No I do not like that look. Yes I like the look it has now. Lol.
I like the idea of air bags. Had them on a 91 cummins dually. Might look into them. |
