Inside dome light

Are any of you setting up a dome light to come on when you open the door like newer trucks do? How are you doing it and where did you buy it?

Thanks

I used a stock dome light but I changed the guts out to LED. Looks like the old light on the outside but has modern lighting using an LED panel.

You can probably find the thread on it if you search by threads I have started if you are interested.

Re: Inside dome light

I kept the dome light and circuit stock. I added kick panel courtesy lights that are operated off of door switches using a relay set up for ground energizing. Look at this for how to make your dome work with the doors.

Re: Inside dome light

check my build. i believe your hinges could use a similar bracket
no relays used. power to dome light, ground thru headlight switch or door switches

bracket. easy peasy 1x6x.125 steel with 2 holes

looking up to the hinge w door open

w door closed

I used the same bracket setup as Ogre, concealed and works great.

Re: Inside dome light

If a standard door jam switch that was typically used on 68 and up trucks won't fit with out binding, try this switch (search 58-64 beetle). I used it on my burb 3rd door and the burb barn doors. Very cheap and works great. The ones in my bug have been working for over 50 years.
