Turn signal cam help, tilt
Ive installed a tilt truck column and it did not come with the turn signal cam disc. I found on dormans website part 83232 which it says is good from 70-2000'ish. However, it is very sloppy and IMO, needs a spring between it, and the steering wheel mounting plate(aftermarket wheel). It also requires a twist lock in horn wire... rather then the plunger type of my non-tilt.
Is this the correct part? Can someone take some pictures of a correct part for me and let me see if what I have is even close to correct. Or does someone know a part number I can go fetch from local store, rather then placing an order from LMC for such a small simple part. Also, can someone show me the correct clocking of this part when the tires are facing strait forward?

Re: Turn signal cam help, tilt
Iirc my 72 had a spring between it from the factory. I recently had to install a new turn signal cam and horn disc. I had placed a large order with lmc and got the disc there. It all woked as intended. I have run i to the issue with the horn wire connector on another vehicle however. I think i was still able to use the interference fit connector after all. I think i just installed it like it was a twist fit.
As far as alignment, it is trial and error to get the wheel straight. I tried it a coule of times before i got it. Just snug the nut down enough to engage the aplines but not tight enough to require a puller to get it off. I wouldnt drive the truck on the road like this, but its sufficient for the driveway to get the wheel aligned. |

Re: Turn signal cam help, tilt
Was it still the plunger type on the LMC design?
I was thinking of putting the truck on jackstands for the alignment if I couldn't get a picture. |

Re: Turn signal cam help, tilt
Bringing this back to the top.
I have my new cam/disk. Its installed and only my right turnsignal is triggering off. I have both "p" springs in. I have also changed my cam position so that it is straddling the switch arm (basically at 9'oclock). The p springs are what it is to bump, and turn back off correct? |
