Is this cab mount correct?
I bought some core support and cab mounts. After putting the cab mounts on and stepping back I noticed it's got quite the rake. Seems like the rear is spaced off the frame farther than the front. It also doesn't seem the bolt's thread is long enough for this rear mount. Just as the rubber starts to compress, the captured nut bottoms out on the shank. I can't move it by hand unless I really really try.
The cab mounts came as a kit from LMC, in one bag, but this just doesn't seem right. The front rubber looks like hockey pucks, the rears look like this....

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
Also, I have a '68 body going on what looks to be a 69+ frame.
I haven't mounted the core support yet, but looking in the LMC catalog it shows that year split (67-68 and 69-72) for the core support. I ordered '68 but now I'm second guessing. I haven't tried it yet, seems the mount should be ordered for the BODY, not the frame. So, I might be worried for nothing. :/ The cab and bed are all the same mounts.

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
It appears you installed c20 rear cab mounts on a halftone frame.... Your going to need to return those and get correct c10 2wd rear cab mounts.

I quit dealing with LMC when they sent me rear axle mounting nuts that were grade 3 and made in China. Those nuts are torqued to 250 ft Lbs, well beyond the breaking strength of the grade 3 crap they sent. |

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
And as for rad. sup. mounts I would go with what the frame is. If your frame has the larger holes for cab mounts and rounded edges then go with a 69-72 mount and NOT a 67-68 mount even if your body is 67-68.

As for the core support, the diagram shows different length bolts between the 68 & 69+. Will they still fit through the core support if I go with the later year setup? Or am I looking at swapping out the frame mounts to match my 68? Thanks guys!

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
Those look like the cab mounts on my 72 4X4. The ones on my 69 2X are shorter.

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
As noted above those are the rear cushions for a 3/4 ton 2WD or any 4X4. Either they shipped the wrong kit, or you ordered from the wrong catalog page. I suggest that you could have ordered the wrong kit since they only identify the application at the top of the pages which is a bit confusing. I am not a big fan of LMC, but they were the only vendor where I saw the original type cab mounting hardware available. Frankly, I was quite impressed with the quality of the kit.
Here's a picture of my 3/4 ton frame mounts for comparison. You can see the lower positioning of the bracket, and, possibly, the greater depth of a 3/4 ton frame. Last edited by FirstOwner69; 06-07-2014 at 02:58 PM. |

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
Yep
That is the question of the hour. Did I order the wrong ones or did they send the wrong ones. I know I ordered the wrong core mounts already. Damn things are pricy to be making mistakes. I think my whole 85 K5 blazer in poly was cheaper

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
I just noticed the part numbers are only one apart, so they could have easily pulled the wrong kit... assuming the have then stocked in numerical order.

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
I don't know what to tell you about the core support mounts. I do know, however, that my early 69 came from the factory with the 67/68 style mounts. I ordered the 69-72 style first and ended up ordering the 67/68 style. Go figure.

Re: Is this cab mount correct?
Stay away from LMC's leaf spring bushings, mine exploded after a year. I can see chunks of rubber squirting out of each mount. Pain in the butt to replace! Urethane next time.
