1959 Gmc serial number and paint code?
My serial number is 102 C S 7511A. My uncle told me it was repainted to this green color but unsure what color it was before. And we always thought it was a 235 until I looked up the engine serial number and it started with a 270. Can anyone please help me out? I don't know how to read the 7511a.

Original color will be on the 1) firewall if not repainted 2)side of the cowl under the front fender, unless they pulled the front clip when it was repainted, 3) back of the cab behind the bed unless they pulled the bed to paint it, 4) under the windshield or back window rubber unless they pulled the glass to paint it.

Re: 1959 Gmc serial number and paint code?
I have pulled the truck apart and there is no hint of any other color. My uncle said it was completely stripped and professionally painted. The interior is a dark grey and white color that I thought didn't go with the reef green exterior. Is there a paint code anywhere on the truck? What does the 7511a mean? And is the engine serial number correct about the 270 ci?

Re: 1959 Gmc serial number and paint code?
The serial number seems to match up to what GMC called a Fleet Option.

post photo of interior and front clip, if fleet option will only have one headlight in the standard two light opening and Chevy bezel with GMC instead of bowtie on the lense.

Or pull the battery tray or hood hinges, basically anything on the firewall, even under the little rubber deals that hold on the inside pad.

Ok thank you. Any idea if that engine serial number is correct? I was always told it was a 235. Never thought it could be a 270

Re: 1959 Gmc serial number and paint code?
From the looks of the number on the pad behind the distributor pad you are lucky enough to have a 270. You also have the a 125.25" wheel base 1/2 ton truck 7211 is the production number. I just looked in the front of an LMC catalogue for this info. I've been dealing with a 58 gmc with a mix of chevy and gmc parts my self so good luck with the 270. I wish mine had survived. You also more than likely have a rear gear ratio of 3.07 in your 1/2 ton rear.Larry

Re: 1959 Gmc serial number and paint code?
So I talked to my uncle today and he said it was an Air Force truck. Used to be AF blue. I tried googling a picture of an old AF truck but couldn't find anything. Any of you guys know what color code or anything that could help?
