rear suspension 64
Hey, I am working on a 64 chevy C10 rear end that is causing a little trouble. The shock mount crossmember has rusted through right at the spot the coil spring bolts through. I have been looking for a replacement crossmember, but the only thing I can find is the tubular one the cpp sales. I wanted to see if anyone knew if this would work as a replacement. The truck is at stock height and was not planning to upgrade at this time with any of the other tubular rear parts. Thanks for any help you have.

I am sorry I am confused by what you mean when you say "shock mount crossmember". But that might just be me. If so ignore this post.

Re: rear suspension 64
I believe the lower mounts are just riveted in. I'd find a replacement off the forum classified section or hit the local yard up and score one.
Which side is it on that's causing the issue? I can check and see if I have one kicking around. Also...check ECE...I know they make them. Heres a pic of a 67-72 frame which is almost the same as the 63-66 frame. Pic of the ECE mount Link to ECE: http://www.earlyclassic.com/home.aspx They are around $60 and sell them for stock shocks and lowered shocks Part #912-8000

Re: rear suspension 64
Sorry if I hammered this pic posting, but tried to post pic showing the damage to the crossmember. It is on the left side of truck. Plan is to replace springs, shocks, and bushings on rear end, but figured this needed to be replaced. Thanks for the pic above, that is right on with what I am looking at (but in much better shape). Thanks for your help. Will check out the ads and other links.

Re: rear suspension 64
If you pull the bed off it will make life a lot easier. You can make a cross member and just bolt it on were the rivets go for the stock one.

Re: rear suspension 64
Thanks for the info. Found one today from ECE so now the fun begins I guess. Will get it in garage this weekend and get bed off to ease the break down and start getting things cleaned up under there. Thanks again for the help.
