Hydro boost swap trouble
I'm in the middle of swapping my '83 K20 to hydroboost and I'm now stuck. My booster is from an '82 K30 and I got a new master and all new hoses for the same '82 model year. My problem is that my hoses are all the o-ring style on both ends but my steering box looks like this picture. The high pressure port is 16mms flare style. The o-ring hose won't thread into it. Do I have the wrong steering box? I have an '88 V30 with hydroboost parts truck that I could take the box off of but I didn't want to tear it out if I wasn't sure it was going to work. Can someone help me out?
Thanks |

Re: Hydro boost swap trouble
After beating my head against the wall all day, I determined that I don't have some mutant steering box after all. It's an '83 so it has to be all metric because the return hose is the o-ring type. Apparently there are tap in inserts that convert the o-ring style port to a inverted flare type. That's what it looks like is in the pressure port. Now I have to figure out how to get the stupid thing out. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it out?

Alternately you can re-flare the new hose. Just don't forget to put the correct nut on before flaring. Last edited by jeffro308; 06-15-2014 at 01:51 AM. Reason: Clarification |

Re: Hydro boost swap trouble
I'm trying to make some braided stainless steel lines for my hydroboost but I believe that I bought the wrong fittings. I have 16mm and 18mm to 6an fittings but the 6an to 3/8 seems to fit. Where can I get a 6an to 7/16 fitting? I've searched everywhere and can't find a set...

Re: Hydro boost swap trouble
prob need to find a screw to thread into it, and some vicegrips to pull it out.
