Bumper help
Hello guys,
I have a 65 C-10 stepside. I bought a new rear bumper from Brothers along with the brackets to go with and for the life of me we could not get the brackets to line up with the holes in the bumper! I am normally pretty good with looking at something and figuring out a way to make it work but not this time… Does anyone have a picture of how it is suppose to work? I had the tail lights temporarily mounted under the bed while I was putting the bed together but have removed them since this picture. |

Re: Bumper help
seems simple enough right? LOL Maybe I have the wrong brackets. I will take some pics and post up. I am pretty sure I tried that config but they just don't come close to fitting. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Bumper help
And there is also a difference in the 60-62 and 64-66 brackets due to the frame differences. What part # did you order from Brothers?

Re: Bumper help
that makes perfect sense...
Front bumper they sent was perfect so I didn't even consider the problem wasn't my stupidity! LOL I just looked up the receipt and I actually ordered the bumpers from LMC not Brothers. my bad. Part number 38-9873 rear bumper premium chrome $189.95 part number 30-3613 rear bumper bracket kit $69.95 I just looked up both part numbers they seem to be correct...so it is my fault lol Last edited by schpeen; 06-24-2014 at 04:04 PM. |

Re: Bumper help
The brackets are correct, but they list the premium bumper as 60-66, so you didn't mess up. The bumper has to be either 60-62 or 63-66 and LMC should already know this as they have them listed separate for the standard bumpers. I'd call LMC and they should correct the issue as the parts are not listed correct online. More than likely they sent a 60-62 bumper which has a wider frame.

Re: Bumper help
I had the same issue, sometimes its tough to find the parts that line up correctly, I got mine from LMC, then Brothers both same issue so I decided to go bumper less in the rear, kinda learned the hard way, but I like the end results so im happy!http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1403644169

Re: Bumper help
Sometimes the best thing to do is just attack it fresh with a new perspective. I decided to mount up everything loose and snug up each side a little at a time and it is coming together.

Re: Bumper help
They cover the bumper brackets. I did not see them in the LMC catalog. Classic Parts of America calls them bumper cover panels PT. #65-561 34.950 pair. They keep rocks from flying up between bed & bumper.
Good luck |

Re: Bumper help
Very good advice. I will order a set. I was wondering why there was a extra hole on the top edge of the brackets. I appreciate that.

Re: Bumper help
Perfecto. I already bought the license plate bracket and light and the holes lined up exact.
I love the "no plastic" look of these trucks! |

Re: Bumper help
The rock guards were factory installed and are a common missing or damaged item that some people don't replace. I think they are well worth the couple of bucks as they do reflect rocks that are thrown up from the tires and I also think they help "finish" the installed look on the rear ends. Post some pics of the progress once your done!!!
For what its worth....mine were so bad I bought repops and these are one of the few repop items that fit and finish was good on. I ordered mine from Classic Parts of America a few years ago. And glad you were able to get it pulled together!!

Re: Bumper help
I was repainting the old 230 when I was doing the back end and just hit them with some primer and engine paint since it was handy...

Re: Bumper help
Don't forget that in many cases the rock guards were simply not needed. Such was the case with my C20 because of its custom rear bumper.
