5.3 starter wiring
My starter has 2 large terminals, I know the small is the purple but which lug is batt hot? Why have 2?

there is no external ground.... bolting the starter to the motor is the ground.
go ahead and ground that 3rd connection... you will see what 700 cca looks like first hand.... do not put any grounds onto that starter or those lugs... it will end badly for you!!!!

can you post a picture of the starter? that will help us to see what you have i mean you should have on1 bug lug for battery one small for purle and other lug should have strap or something feeding the starter motor it self

I know I should not have, but we all have to admit, I did snicker a bit. Looks like wasted income said it best. Best to ask questions than to make Xmas like sparks in mid summer.
