Need Your Opinion - What Would You Have Paid?
Hey everyone! New guy here on the forum. Over the the years I've had my Muscle Cars and Corvettes, but as of 06-22-14 I ventured into the world of "collectible" trucks. What I purchased was a 1978 Scottsdale SWB from the original owner with 32,650 miles. There is a story behind this purchase and I think I scored on the purchase price, but what would you have given up from your hard earned bank account to put this into your garage?? Photo's should tell the story on this truck, but it is a original 350/350 equipped rig with no A/C, no rust, original paint & interior and original purchase paperwork.

Five to Six. The snaps being screwed into the body actually decreases the value for me personally-it is rust waiting to happen in my world.

Re: Need Your Opinion - What Would You Have Paid?
Did you get all the OE parts that were removed? If not, value drops DRAMATICALLY to most for the price of an "all original low mileage" truck.
What documentation came with it to prove the miles have not rolled once or twice or thrice?

Re: Need Your Opinion - What Would You Have Paid?
Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply! Here's the quick story on this Scottsdale. It came to my attention through a friend who has known the original owner since the early seventies. Her and her husband purchased it here locally (Seattle). Unfortunately he suddenly passed away in 1981 and the truck was parked in their garage since that time and occasionally driven. The engine bay has all the original hoses, carb, #'s matching alternator, radiator, etc. Drive train is numbers matching as well along with the original spiral shocks. Interior speaks for itself really, but the parcel shelf behind the seat is still like new. Due to being garage kept all this time and the Northwest having none salted roads there is no rust. The wheels are period for the late 70's early 80's but I'm looking to replace them. The BF Goodrich tires I will be replacing as well as they are barely used, but are 30 plus years old.
Again, thanks for the reply's!

Re: Need Your Opinion - What Would You Have Paid?
Doesn't matter what he paid, he has a nice truck he likes...that's all that matters. Worth different amounts to different people, that's how the automotive hobby has always been. Sweet find for sure.

The Reseal is a really good product that actually works, have been using it for about 10 years.

Re: Need Your Opinion - What Would You Have Paid?
Well, I paid $6500.00 for it. It looks like it was more on the money than anything based on you all's responses. I was just at the Seattle Mecum auction event and trucks in nice condition sold very well and were bid up nicely (over 10K) and not making reserves. So it's all subjective, whats a great buy to one is a stupid buy to another. I love the rig and it will continue to be stored in a garage. Now the question is, do I go back to a rally wheel or I was thinking the 5 slot Halibrand replica wheels??

That's the biggest thing people have to think of. I could have bought a bunch of other trucks for 2k or 2500 less than I bought my project "keeper" for.... but I'd have spent 4-5k easily getting any of those to the trucks to the point this truck is at...possibly more...not counting my time...

I would keep the wheels and all just as it is, myself. It looks great to me! Here's another product you may want to know about. The aviation boys use this to keep oxidation from occurring in airframes. You spray it into voids, and it creeps into everything and keeps it from rusting. This stuff will walk 12" up a vertical surface. I spray it into the doors, the rocker panels and the tailgate very liberally -- enough to have it pool in there, and some will run out on the floor. It will coat the inside and keep it from rusting. The aviation boys re-apply it annually during annual inspections. As the sheet metal on 1978 trucks left much to be desired for resisting oxidation, and was not galvanized as modern body panels are, you need to take preventative measures. http://www.skygeek.com/10013.html

Re: Need Your Opinion - What Would You Have Paid?
Thanks for all the replies, positive comments and suggestions!! I will look at all of them. I kinda figured on having to replace the hoses on the engine etc due to their age. But I will be keeping everything I take off and not throwing it away. Thanks again everyone!!
