Throttle Code P2138
Alright, been doggin it regarding the truck lately finally started working on it again.. Its been throwing a p2138 code.. only that code. Now I bought a new pedal for it straight from the dealer because I needed one.. No joy.
She fires up and idles fine, no issues there but this one is difficult without pin out diagrams or a test procedure.. I was able to check for 5v signal going to the TB and to the pedal the 5v signal is there at the right pins. unless the PCM isn't doing the math correctly. 5.3 2007 LH6 4L60 I have only 2 of the 7 wires hooked up right now for the harness the PCM power and the fuel pump.. nothing else is hooked up yet.. actually doing that today.. I need some help regarding this code.. anyone experience this before? I'm at a loss without anymore info on testing this system. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Throttle Code P2138
Check your wiring g at the those body I think there is a brown wire that shorts out inside the insulation and looks fine that will cause that.

Re: Throttle Code P2138
Gone through the wiring for continuity from the ECM connector (e38) to the TB connector and also did the ECM connection to the APP, ALL wires are in their proper location and stood up to the wiggle/pull/push test.. all maintain 0.4 Ohms... I checked that brown wire while I was at it.. she's good.
After some more testing here, The TB does not respond with app input as well not sure if I mentioned it. |

Re: Throttle Code P2138
P2138
The voltage difference between APP sensor 1 and APP sensor 2 exceeds a predetermined value for more than 2 seconds. It is either in the APP wiring, The APP connector, Mis-pinned APP connector or the wrong pedal assembly. Do you have a scanner that is able to read live data? |

Re: Throttle Code P2138
Thanks for the pin out diagram!! Do you happen know the layout of the APP connector.. the stamps showed _ _ F A _ _ where the _ would be is a wire. Its possible the APP connector is done incorrectly. I assumed it was
DEF ABC I dont have a scan tool. I have just been using an app to pull codes and get approx gauge info until I get the actual gauges working. Maybe there be an APP for that? :/ |

Re: Throttle Code P2138
I'll check this out, in a little bit here. Now that you've shown me this I'm positive the APP harness connector pins are incorrect. I'll verify here shortly. Thanks again!

Re: Throttle Code P2138
Glad you got it fixed.
Actually it does, but it's internal to the computer....

Re: Throttle Code P2138
Yeah I should have picked up on it earlier, but I didn't have a pin out diagram, all I knew was there needed to be 2 5v signals going to the App and 1 5v signal going to the tb.. Its amazing what you can do with the right documentation.

Re: Throttle Code P2138
Are you sure you were supplied the correct pedal? Was any modification done to the pedal-arm before installation?
You said you only have 2 wires hooked up; does the e38 require input from the brake switch for the pedal function, like the GenIII stuff would? The tac-module stuff has provision to connect to the brake switch in the tac circuit, for TCC function. Not sure if the e38 needs anything like that.

Re: Throttle Code P2138
Nah, only need really 3 wires actually hooked up for normal ops. PCM pwr, Fuel pump, and the TCC. At least thats all I hooked up.. just been jumpering things to where they have to go until I figured out everything was working with the harness..
Also P2138 is cleared now.. Thanks to clinebarger that pin out of the Delphi connector helped.. D and F were reversed. Thanks for the Help guys! Even took it for a spin around the block first time for this second build. |
