Rochester carb fuel fitting size
I've invested in a 66 c10 stock inline 6 I think a 250 not sure. It has a Rochester single barrel carb that I have ordered a rebuild kit for. When I got the truck the fuel inlet fitting was missing in the carb. I was gonna run by ace hardware and grab the fitting and just run rubber fuel line with hose clamp. Anyone know what the inside pipe thread is on the carb?

Which fitting is missing? The actual fuel line or the filter housing fitting on the inlet of the carb? Neither of which are pipe thread. If it is the fitting the fuel line threads into, you will need that specific fitting, and most likely nothing the local hardware store will have.
A photo would go a long way here to getting help. |

Take it to a car quest or a garage that deals with classics if you can't get it elsewhere. Those places will have it off hand. Make sure you find a part number for it too to cross reference in a parts store. Most places don't have the exploded breakaway display of these carbs anymore.

That is a special fitting that has the fuel filter behind it. The tube that goes in it is 5/16 inverted flare. The later carbs & Q-jets used a 3/8 tube.I have a used one if you want me to send it to you.

Special thanks to George for sending me the fitting and gasket. Truck fired up and ran after some timing adjustments. Crazy thing is I don't have a battery so we hooked jumper cables to the cables and it cranked but no headlights/taillights/dash lights would come on. My dad has an old 24v charger and we hooked it up and the flashlights and tail lights came on but truck wouldn't turn over.
So I'm thinking just off the common sense side of my brain that the charger was supplyin enough volts through a bad alternator or voltage regulator that the truck actually got 12-14v for everything to work but not enough amps to turn the truck over. As for the jumper cables they were supplying enough amps to turn the truck over but not enough volts as it was only supplying 12-14v to begin with and after traveling through bad alt/voltage reg the voltage was too low to operate lights. Again I don't know but hoping to try and slap a battery in it this week to see what results I get. Any suggestions would help guys. |
