suspension question
Can anyone tell if front suspension parts off of a 88 to 98 two wheel drive gmc will bolt on my 67 gmc.

Sorry the only parts the I have used that work is 73-87 spindles and control arms

As far as direct bolt on, no. I've heard of someone using 88-98 spindles on a 73-87 type front suspension, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a direct bolt on. As far as arms, they are way different. Sway bars might be made to work but still probably not direct bolt on. Not sure about springs....

Front springs will not work our trucks have a tapered spring at the top and 88-98 are open for the shock.

Can anyone tell me the benefits of swapping to a later model front suspension. Is it just for the disc brake conversion. I plan to put 2.5 drop spindles, new rotors, calipers, upper and lower control arms on my 65. If the swap is just for disc brakes I will just stick with my original 65 front end. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Use 63-70 drop spindles for a direct bolt on.
Add 73 rotors calipers and bearings. 71-72 master cylinder and prop valve. Or aftermarket prop valve.

So I'm going to ask...what is the benifit of the 73 and up calipor? Does it stop the truck faster is it bigger what? Just easier to find parts for?
The 71-72, 2 wheel drives are all disc brake front ends. How hard would it be to put a 2 wheel drive parts on a 4x4? I would think as easy are easier than buying newer stuff but I have never done it before. just wondering since you brought it up.

73-up calipers are more readily available at auto parts stores.
The 71-72 trucks may even use the same part number now. They both fit the HD 1.25" wide rotors.
