I really liked the "Icon Thriftmaster" seats, so I had an upholster do something similar. Would have been nice to have a middle console, but I wasn't going to compromise on using the original bench seat. It had to stay. And matching door panels and door mounted armrests at the same time.

You're probably not looking for something like this but I'll show it off anyway.

This isn't an AD truck seat but I liked it so much I've saved it for a long time.
This one IS an AD as you can see by the embossed date:

Here's my '57 seat that I just had done:
He did the visor and arm rests in the same vinyl and the headliner will come from that roll of material: |

He is great. He's 76 years old too. He did the entire interior on my '55 Bel Air too. Here is that if you are interested: 55 Bel Air No kits. Everything made from scratch including the headliner and carpet. I ran into him yesterday. He's retiring to work on his own (and friends) stuff. He just help set up his best employee in his own new shop on the other side of town. He will probably become my new go-to guy. |

Looks great Roger. I haven't checked your build thread in awhile, so I'll ask here. When you had the seat done did you or the shop sandblast and paint the frame? It looks nice and clean is why I ask.

No I didn't blast or paint the frame. It was in really nice condition and just decided to leave it. The upholsterer did spray paint the hinges black though. On the Bel Air I did before this truck project, I did blast and paint the seat frames. They were not near as clean as the truck frame was. It is a kind of a messy job blasting and painting seat frames: Gets more overspray on the floor than it does the seat frames: Curing the SPI epoxy in the sun: Btw, I haven't been working on the truck (thus no updates on my build thread) for a couple of months now. I've been working on an addition on the house for a master bathroom along with remodeling the master bedroom. I hope to get back on the truck in a couple more weeks. |

I really like the Icon seat too. Any idea what the seat was out originally?

Glide Engineering is the company that makes the seat I think they are awsome seats, the only reason I'm not adding one to my build right now is the seat in my truck now is in really good shape and my sliders work great that is after soaking them with WD 40

Glide Engineering has some awesome seats! A little out of my price range. Gonna have to keep looking for a bench with a nice pull out arm rest.

Re: 47-54 Bench Seat Pic Thread... Post pics of your recovered Bench!
I was at a car show a few weekends ago and there was a guy there who reupholstered a front bench seat from a 2001 Impala. He made it look old school and the fitment was pretty much spot on. I do think the pan had to be modified, but otherwise it worked very well and had a center console.
