15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
Ok guys I need some opinions. I just got back my rims back from powder coating and they look awesome. But, I now need to figure out what tires to put on them. They are 15x6 steels so I'm looking to run either a 33x9.50 or a 33x10.50. I rly like the old pizza cutter look but can't find anything in the size I need. So, let's see what you all are running tire wise on your steelies. Any input would be awesome!!!

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
I'm running 235/85R16 pizza cutters. I don't know the width of the rims. I really need to do what you have done and get them stripped and powder coated.

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
Those wheels look great. I wasn't able to find 33" tires that fit the stock width 15" steel wheels on my 72 1/2t 4wd GMC so located a set of 15x8 steel wheels. You may have better luck though. A 30" set of tires will fit.

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
I gotta believe that a 10.50 will fit on a 6 wheel. The only issues being possible uneven wear, and maybe if I air down the possibility of rolling the bead off. I know it's not recomended, but no one said you can't mount 33x10.50 on a 15x6 wheel. Has any one here done it?

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
This is one of my favorite trucks! I'm also getting my 15x6 Steelies powder coated. I'm going with a 10.50 width tire as well. I just love the Steelies with dog dishes and pizza cutters.

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
Huh - the minimum recommended wheel width for 33x10.5 BFG ATs is 7" (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bfg-63540/overview/), which is why I purchased a set of 15x8 steelies. Will the tire shop balk at installing on a 6" wheel?

Senorx - thanks for the compliment
DeadheadNM - the shop did not balk installing them at all. I actually like the look of the 1050 tire on the 6 rim... |

Post up some more pictures too, Deadhead. I can look at your K5 for days. Loving the K5 journey so far. Next month I will be taking my Steelies to get powder coated and get me some new BFG AT KOs. I managed to secure a set of period correct dog dishes a couple of months ago too. I also have the parts below ready to go under the hood. I have the bug really bad! |

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
I agree - look great! I would have mounted a 33" set of tires on my stock steelies if I knew the folks at the tire shop would do so. Now I'm stuck with my 8" steelies - happy problem I guess...

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
Señorx-I will see what I have as far as pics and get some more up for you...it's still 110deg here and she hasn't been out of the garage in months.
Deadhead-I like the 8s also, I am sure there are plenty of guys who would trade you out if you really wanted. I know a bunch of guys down here that race the baja 500/1000 and they always go with a skinnier rim, keeps the bead tighter...not that I'm hitting any whoopdedoos in my k5 going to get ice cream! Btw- floated the upper Clark Fork a couple days last weekend out of Missoula...love Montana. |

Not a Blazer but here's a pic of my old 68 with 33x9.00 Kelly Springfield ATs on 15x6 wheels.

Re: 15x6 6 lug steelie project/ tire options/ help
That's a great look - I like the 9" better than the 10.5" I have now. I went to Kelly's website but don't see a 33" light truck tire for a 15" rim listed anymore.
