Brake light wiring

I've just about completed my 87 R10 Step Side. I am wanting to add a 3rd brake light, I've got new LED flush mounted tail lights that also are the signal lights. My concern is if I pick up the brake light wire at the rear of the truck I think the 3rd brake light will flash as well instead of just for braking. My question is where can I pick up a circuit for just a brake light... at the brake switch? fuse block?

Re: Brake light wiring

Tap off the brake light switch at the pedal. I did this on my old C20. Just run the wire from the pedal switch down to the floor, under the carpet at drivers door, and up the left side of the cab. If you truck has the bed light/cab light installed, follow that wire. David
