Re: auto in a K10

My thoughts are he didn't use the stock 66 transfer case . Most likely used the later combined trans and transfer case. Have his phone and email info if needed

Re: auto in a K10

there is room there though if one wanted to use the stock t/c. i do believe that there is a thread or two on here which shows 2 different ways to mount the shifter mechanisms. Tony I think was one of them

Re: auto in a K10

as Ron said, there might be room. if you move the eng forward some and use a short th350 or a 2004r and a short D/shaft to t/f case.

Re: auto in a K10

you don't have to move the engine forward, I have a t5 in mine and a 205 independent and there is about 10" between the centres of the ujoints. if I am not happy with the t5 I do have a 700r4 sitting by though a 2000r4 is abit shorter

Re: auto in a K10

np205 is a transfer case and mine is an isolated one. perhaps you are talking about the 365 4speed with the 205 tc atttached?

the engine move may not work in my combo 292 since it was the offset mounts already...

Re: auto in a K10

you could make a shifter bracket that comes off where the tailhousing bolts to the main a/t case. the other way is to use something like the rear cab mounting bracket and mount it off the inside of the frame where you want the shifter to come up

i was thinkin bout the fab'd bracket off the tailhousing since the cab will be off the frame and i will have full access to it all. i will also be able to work better to see what works and doesnt and can switch it... thks for all the input!!!

Re: auto in a K10

is this the orig trans. then it will be a NP420. NP stands for New Process. so your trans is a New Process and your orig transfer case would have been a Timken as in T-221. in the newer models that trans was upgraded o a T365 and the 4 x 4 had a NP205 adapted to the NP365 so it became a 1 piece unit, IHC and Dodge did use an independent NP 205 and it was mounted like the T221 in that it was separate from the main trans. so with an independent T/C you can mount any trans that you want in front of it as it will connect with a short d?shaft
