Frame Off body weight
Does anyone know what the "body only" weight of a 1968 panel? Doors will be off and no glass. I can find complete vehicle weights but that is all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to any replies!

Front clip included or just cowl-back?

Re: Frame Off body weight
Stripped of seats, etc. - basically, just a shell - my guess would be 800-1000, but that's only a guess.

Re: Frame Off body weight
I'm gonna have to guess less than 800. When I scrapped my blue 70 body and with no doors, windows, interior ect I got very little money at the scrap yard. I only came home with about 80 bucks and if you figure twenty cents per pound, it was only 400lbs. But if you add in the plywood floor weight and the large roof section I saved, maybe 600 total?

Re: Frame Off body weight
I would guess 800-1000 on the shell. I did this quite a few years ago and it didn't make anything feel like it was strained even with the glass and doors.

Re: Frame Off body weight
Curious why you need to know the weight. Thread is a couple weeks old with no follow up.
When we took my panel body off the frame we had three guys per side and the rear was surprisingly heavy compared to the front.

Re: Frame Off body weight
Just needed to know how many guys I would have to bribe with beers to come over and help. Also was going to make a body dolly to place shell on to move around in the shop
