Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
Yea, but we've steered away from it (and probably done the same for others). Yes it can be done, and has been done, but I think the general cost and time involved makes most folks look for another source vehicle that came with the "normal" connector.
You may have better luck finding a more in-depth explanation over on LS1tech. I have seen this however: http://www.shop.gforce1320.com/product.sc?productId=354 Its designed to bolt a regular driveshaft into a GTO with a tranny swap.

Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
You could always use that driveshaft with slip yoke clinebarger posted and this flange http://www.driveshaftshop.com/drives...nger-05-06-gto.
This would be easier than converting your transmission from your 3 bolt flange to a slip yoke style to use a TH400 yoke or the 6l90e 1410 yoke. |

Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
grate info I like the idea of turning down the 400 yoke because its less parts, but the adapter looks easy

Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
My driveshaft uses an adapter on the tranny that connects to the driveshaft via a Porsche CV joint.

Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
Thanks. The driveshaft is supposed to be rated for 1000+ HP.

Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
I'm glad you found a competent machinist.
Reinstall the 3-bolt yolk with the Center Nut. Cut off the Output Shaft flush with the Nut. A portable Band Saw does the Cleanest/Coolest Cut. Install TH400 yolk & Nut. Test a U-Joint for a range of motion. |

Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
What size U-joint does that take?
does that act as a slip yoke or is it bolted on the tail shaft like the stock 3 prong is? |

Re: 6l80e drive shaft ?
its a bolt on yoke, that's why you have to use the 400 bolt on yoke the 6l80e slip yoke is not right because you will half to press the u joint together in the truck the 400 that I used bolts together like the differential end look at the pictures and you will see what we art talking about. P S the slip is in the drive shaft like the 4by4s
