Stupid question. Which is the left side of the truck?

Ok, this is getting a little bit silly.

Looking to order a passenger side mirror for my 66. Problem is..Is that the left side looking from the front or the right side sitting in the drivers seat??????

Can anyone tell me as it is a bit far to send it back!

Re: Stupid question. Which is the left side of the truck?

When I order parts, I use the terms 'driver's side' and 'passenger side.'
As I understand, as you sit at the driver's position, your side is the left side.
Passenger side is the right side.
Others may chime in and correct me, but at least you'll have an answer.

Re: Stupid question. Which is the left side of the truck?

Always put yourself in the driver seat facing forward....(normal seating position)

Left side... is driver side

Edit: no questions are dumb.... dumb is putting all your parts on the wrong side because you were too afraid to ask.

It's simple. Take possession of the thing you are describing. Which is the left side of your body? See? Just call It drivers side though so nobody can misinterpret.

Interesting note: GM part numbers for the left side of the truck are odd, while the same described part, located on the right side, the part numbers are even.
GM views the drivers seated position as the left side of the truck.

Not anymore.

It made too much sense so now we've done away with it.

That was very handy, though.

Re: Stupid question. Which is the left side of the truck?

As has been said no ? is stupid , how else do you learn stuff. Yes sitting in car looking out the windscreen is the position for determining left or right side of car.

Over here drivers side is the right hand side, although my pickup is left hand drive I'm sitting on the wrong side of car compared to 99% of drivers here. Hope that hasn't confused you. My first paragraph is the answer you want.

Re: Stupid question. Which is the left side of the truck?

Many cars are built with right and left-hand drive variants so it's pretty ambiguous to indicate "drivers side" since there are both types all over the world. The back of your truck doesn't become the front when it's in reverse does it? :P

Re: Stupid question. Which is the left side of the truck?

Thank you Gentlemen. It would seem that when ordering door mirrors they are labelled left and right, not drivers and passenger side, hence the question.

I just had a brain fart and couldn't picture it in my head!

Regards,

P.
