Iroc Steering box?
I have a 1980 2wd Scottsdale SWB. I was wondering if it was possible to use a 1980s IROC steering box? I have one that was installed in my previous project a 1991 S-series Jimmy.

Re: Iroc Steering box?
No, it mounts inside the frame. Ours mount outside. The guts aren't interchangeable either..... A few of the high end steering box builders can make a box of any ratio you want but they are VERY expensive.....

Re: Iroc Steering box?
Agr doesn't have them for our trucks from what they have told me
But redhead steering gear local to me can set up your steering box for more road feel with the torsion bars.

Re: Iroc Steering box?
AGR has a straight rate 14-1 but that's the fastest non variable they can do. Lee steering gears will build a box as fast as 8-1 but it'll cost $1000+

Re: Iroc Steering box?
Unless you're autocrossing, a quick ratio box is kinda silly. Think about how much time you spend going straight vs how much time you spend turning.

Re: Iroc Steering box?
My '83 has the variable ratio box (N41), the difference between turning my '81 with regular steering around a corner is quite evident as the '83 I can toss around with minimal steering input, the '81 takes some additional wheel input to achieve the same results and that makes it interesting if I go from one to the other.
