2wheel drive blazer
What would be my best route to make a 2wheel drive blazer?
-chop up a suburban frame? -chop a lwb truck frame? -or can a 4x4 be converted? Thanks in advance for the advise!

Re: 2wheel drive blazer
I always Thought that a 4x4 frame had different rails than 2x4 and was a pain to convert?

Re: 2wheel drive blazer
People convert 2wd - 4wd all the time. I imagine it wouldn't be that hard to convert 4wd - 2wd. I'd go the junkyard and find a good donor front suspension and take lots of pictures of the connecting points and compare to your 4wd front end.
You may need a new transmission or at least a bolt on output shaft to eliminate the transfer case. On my 59 when I converted 2wd - 4wd I needed a whole new tranny because my manual was not designed to mate to a T-case.

Re: 2wheel drive blazer
well the burb, pickup, jimmy frames are different.
so are the body mounts/floor pans. working back from 4X4 to 4X2 would be the way to go. I'd bet you could sell off any 4X4 stuff easy,I'd go that way

Re: 2wheel drive blazer
A few have took a 4x4 one and swapped it over to 2wd.Its not hard its all bolt in just a big job since your taking out the whole suspension in it.The front its engine crossmember and whole steering besides the leaf springs and hangs. And you can use a pickup for the front parts not sure about the rear leaf spring size on a 2wd blazer.

Re: 2wheel drive blazer
The 2wd Blazers are not that hard to find....there was one on kijiji for 1500.00 a couple of weeks ago;your best option is to do a frame swap with one.We did a 91 Blazer 4wd to 2wd a few years ago;Used an 81 frame;trans from a 2wd 90 suburban;kept the efi etc;worked out just as if the factory had done a 2wd Blazer.

Re: 2wheel drive blazer
Well I was hoping not to have to buy one as I've got 2 blazers and multiple suburbans and trucks! But if I come across a 2wheel drive blazer I might have to buy it haha
