Hello all, I have a question to those who may have ever sold and shipped a 73-80 dash pad. If you purchased a box, where did you buy it from and what size(roughly) was it? I have sold a dash and need to ship it. Thank you

Why don't you just measure the dash pad to figure out the appropriate size box?

I have measurements of the pad, I'm just wondering what size box someone may have used. It has to be at least 70" long, and at least 12" x 12", that would just be squeezing it in. How fragile are these to ship? Do I need a much larger box for more protection. More importantly I was wondering where a box this size could be bought. Screw this forum. I'll go somewhere else to ask and hopefully not get a smart ass answer.

You'll probably have to use a telescoping box system as below:

Office Depot Brand Telescoping Inner Boxes 14" x 14" x 40" Office Depot

I get what you're saying. USPS, FedEx, UPS sell pre-sized boxes. You want to use one of those, rather than try to make a box the size of the dash pad.

Also, check ULine. They have tons and tons of boxes. I don't know if you buy just one box, and you'd have to have it shipped to you. Not sure if you can wait for shipping.

I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. Just trying to offer helpful advice. You asked what size box and i just told you measure the pad to get the right size. What do you want me to say? A 5x5 box?

I would get a round tube to ship it in ,much safer .Those are very fragile ,I bought one and it was destroyed in shipping in a square box.

i would be sure and get insurance on it too . its only a few bucs more and worth it if it get damaged

Ditto on the round tubes for shipping a dash. I shipped several items in a "telescoping square box" style and our gracious shippers always seem to see what they can tear up.

Insurance would be a must!

you can also add a 1x4 on each side of the box for support. I have done this before shipped my dash from memphis to CA fedex for 120.00

First, I apologize for my reaction last week to a certain post, I was not having a good day. I will eat my words, this forum is very helpful.

Second, thank you to all who have given me ideas and tips on shipping. I was just curious if anyone had recently shipped one and could say "Go to ABC store and get this size by this size by this size box." I'll stick around here and again my apologies.

Find a tube as suggested if possible. If shipping it in a telescoping box, I would highly recommend getting one large enough to allow the air-pillows (or alternative) as packing to isolate impact related damages as the box is tossed (placed?) from dock to conveyor to truck to conveyor to dock to truck to door....

Good idea, but I wouls take it a step further. Add 2x2 supports or those shipping monkeys will turn it into a banana.
