Oil pan cover plate
I just received my new engine and transmission, and have a question.
It's a 5.3 E-Rod connect and cruise package. It has the truck oil pan. On the bottom of the front part of the aluminum oil pan there is a thin sheet metal cover plate held on with some small bolts. What is that cover plate for? Thanks |

Re: Oil pan cover plate
Never seen that before, but it must be some kind of a heat shield from a certain application. Its odd that the part number on it is for a truck oil pan.

Re: Oil pan cover plate
the E-Rod package comes with that pan.
I'm going to keep it. It will hang a little low in my 53 pickup, but will still end up with about 7 inches of ground clearance. I'm planning a tubular skid plate for it. The bolt pattern on that thin plate is rather odd. It almost begs to be removed just to see what is behind it! |
