transfer case position
During normal driving in two wheel drive should the transfer case be in neutral or high. This may be a dumb question but I'm having a few issues I'm trying to clear up.Sorry no pics.

Re: transfer case position
Do you know what transfer case you have?
If it's an np208, all the way forward with the lever is 2wd. In neutral, the truck won't move and Hi is 4WD high. I think the np241 has the same shift pattern. The np205 is different. I can't remember where 2wd is on the np205. You could also have a full time 4wd transfer case - np203. |

Re: transfer case position
First thanks for the reply, I guess i should say it's a 1979 GMC Jimmy. Pretty much all stock . I'm not sure what case it has. I've had it for about a year now and never messed with the four wheel drive much.

Re: transfer case position
Thanks Bruiser, I figured out my problem. The advance weights bushings in my distrubutor were shot and screwing my timing up causing it to be real sluggish. anyway confusing I know but all good now.

Re: transfer case position
Those can be a PITA, I went through a few of those years ago when I tried one of the Mr. Gasket recurve kits, the nylon bushings never would last. Were you able to find OEM bushings?

Re: transfer case position
I had a spare distributor laying around so I stole the bushings from it. As you can imagen it was running sluggish so I was trying to troubleshoot, I thought I might be running around in four high but it's all good now, thanks for the help.
