One piece drive shaft

My 66 long bed is dropped 5" in the back and the rear drive shaft runs up hill at a pretty good angle. The drive line angles are good but I am getting a little vibration due to the steep angle. Has anyone done the one piece setup on a truck with this amount of drop?

Re: One piece drive shaft

Everything ive owned in the ro k crawl world runs uphill

The burb I just bagged runs up also. Have you set an angle finder on the trans output and the rear end pinion to make sure you are within 3 degrees of each other? Thats what works for me.

Re: One piece drive shaft

I know with Jeeps( mine is a 5.5" lift long arm), there can be relatively steep angles from the output, usually softened by a double cardin joint, but as long as the shaft and the pinion are parallel you should be OK.

Re: One piece drive shaft

The angles are set to with in .3 degrees at ride height. Issue is with the rear shaft being relativily short and the rear being about 5" above the front u-joint there is a good bit of drive shaft angle. There is a point where you need to go to a shaft with a CV joint in the front of it. We did this all the time with drive shafts in four wheel drive trucks. I think the angle you try and stay under is 3 degrees but not 100% sure. A one piece shaft would have a pretty shallow angle in a lowered truck. The overall length I need to measure.
