Newbie K5 rebuild
SO just picked up this 72 K5.Currently has 33x12.50x15 BFG. Not sure if it is lifted or not. I am thinking it must be lifted a bit to fit the 33's Going to do a complete restore. Trying to decide on 33x12.5 tires or 35x12.5 tires. Can I do 33's with a 2" lift? Does anyone have photos of their truck with 2" lift or 4" lift. I can find lots of photos with 6" lift. Thinking 6" is to high. I tend to like the lower look with tires filling up the wheel well. Thinkin BFG radial T/A tires. Truck will be 80% street and 20% sand. No rocks or mud. Please give this newbie some advice

Not a blazer, but here's my K-10 on 33's and a 4" Skyjacker lift.

Re: Newbie K5 rebuild
Ran a 4" Trailmaster lift with 35" BFG Mud Terrains, and loved it for a long time. Did have to do some fender trimming though. Had to go bigger or it might still be my daily driver! Was far more useable all around with the 4" lift. I am not looking back now, with the 1 ton conversion and all!

Re: Newbie K5 rebuild
You found a very solid and COMPLETE truck! I went to millington and looked at that truck this past summer. I couldn't convince my wife that we needed a blazer with our jimmy! That truck had all the hard to find pieces with it! Nice score!
I have posted picks of my current project. It has a 4" BDS Lift with 33"x12.5" Nitto Mud Grappler tires. I have no tire rubbing issues. It sits more than high enough for my 5'3" wife and two little kids to get in and out of!! Good luck with the truck Eric Last edited by 1972 Jimmy; 11-24-2014 at 09:21 PM. |

Re: Newbie K5 rebuild
Here is my new ride. I was told it has a 4" lift, I know it has 35" Mickey Thompson Baka claw radials. After looking at 1972 Jimmy's ride I don't think my lift is as big as his. 1972 jimmy, can you measure from the ground the the bottom edge of the highest point of your front and rear wheel well and compare with what I have?
